Paramount+’s crime drama MobLand ratcheted up the action in episode 2, and provided some intriguing implications regarding the relationship between Bella Harrigan and Harry Da Souza. While the first episode of the Guy Ritchie-produced series introduced the Harrigan family and their inner circle, the second episode saw more background provided on the problems that plague the Harrigans and their associates. While the dilemma over the disappearance of Tommy Stevenson grew more intense for everyone involved, directly or indirectly, other schemes came to light.
While Tom Hardy’s Harry Da Souza is clearly one of the show’s most important characters, Lara Pulver’s Bella Harrigan appeared to be little more than a role player after the first episode of MobLand. However, it appears she is headed for a much more significant role after the developments for her character in the second episode. Several mysterious rendezvous, including one with Harry, have set her up for a major story arc moving forward.

MobLand Suggests Bella & Harry Have A Romantic History
The Two Clearly Have A Complicated Past
Bella and Harry met at what appeared to be an upscale hotel bar to discuss plans that Bella was making, particularly as they related to the Frenchman that Bella met and her father. It’s clear that Harry had prior knowledge of whatever it is that Bella is scheming, which from context clues sounds like it has to do with government favors and potentially the import/export of illegal materials. He also made it clear that he advised against those plans, and that Bella went against his wishes in negotiating them further.

Perhaps more significantly, Bella flirtatiously invites Harry to join her in the hotel room, which he advises she book until the tumultuous situation with the Stevensons has blown over. Although Harry quickly rebuffs her advances, it’s pretty clear that the two have been intimate at some point in their past. It’s not yet clear if it’s something that predates Bella’s wedding to Kevin Harrington or if it was an extramarital affair, but the implication is clear that there is more to Bella and Harry’s history to unearth based on her comments at the bar.
Is Bella Plotting Against The Harrigans?
She’s Scheming Without Their Knowledge At The Very Least
It isn’t yet clear what Bella’s endgame is, or even what she’s currently trying to accomplish by meeting with her father and the Frenchman (and then Harry to tell him about it). However, it’s clear that she’s operating outside the Harrigans’ purview with whatever her business is, which certainly won’t sit well with Conrad and Maeve, who are clearly concerned with the control and influence of their criminal empire first. The conversations about contacts with her father in the government and an offer point to Bella executing some kind of deal that would undercut the Harrigans’ drug or gun business.
The subplot surrounding Harry and Bella’s relationship and Bella’s plot is sure to take on more prominence, especially if it’s discovered by Conrad and Maeve.
The fact that Harry at least has knowledge of her plans and hasn’t told Conrad about them indicates he could be in on it as well, or was at one point, anyway. With the noose tightening around the Harrigans per DI Fisk, the investigator who interrogates Harry, both Bella and Harry might be looking to set up their way out of the Harrigan empire. As MobLand continues, the subplot surrounding Harry and Bella’s relationship and Bella’s plot is sure to take on more prominence, especially if it’s discovered by Conrad and Maeve.
